Andy Schwall  |  Head Coach

Former Wisconsin Lutheran College baseball standout Andy Schwall has been named the next head coach of the Warriors baseball program, Director of Athletics Skip Noon has announced. Schwall becomes the seventh head coach in the program's 30-year history.

Schwall returns to his alma mater after spending the past nine seasons as an assistant coach for the Wisconsin Lutheran High School varsity baseball team, where he served as the team's hitting instructor, outfielders coach, and third base coach. He helped lead the Vikings to a Wisconsin Little Ten Conference championship in 2014. Schwall also taught history courses and coached basketball while at WLHS.

"As an alum of WLC and its baseball program, it's truly an honor to be the next head coach of Warriors baseball," said Schwall. "When I played here, I worked hard to help lead the program to a level of success that had not been reached before. We set extremely high goals and did everything we could to try and achieve them. As head coach, my goals have not changed. I am going to work extremely hard and give everything I have to the players, both current and future, in an effort to help them reach their potential as both players and people. The goals we set will be high and we're going to give everything we have to reach them together."

Since 2000, Schwall has been involved with the West Allis Nighthawks of the Land O' Lakes Baseball League. He has served as a division representative on the board of directors, general manager, manager, and player throughout his 17 seasons with the organization. Most recently, Schwall coordinated the Wisco Youth Baseball Camp, which debuted in January 2016.

Schwall played baseball for the Warriors from 1998-2001, earning All-Lake Michigan Conference honors as a senior and Honorable Mention accolades as a sophomore. During his senior season, Schwall batted .435 and ranked second in the LMC with 20 hits. He also was a member of the Warriors football team during their inaugural season of 2000, when he played linebacker under current head coach Dennis Miller. Schwall graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran College in 2001 with a bachelor of science degree in history.

"We are very excited for Andy to join our staff," said Director of Athletics Skip Noon. "He is a Warrior who is extremely passionate about baseball. I look for him to build on the solid foundation that has been established. He brings energy, enthusiasm, and a great work ethic. We are very excited for the future of Warriors baseball."

Schwall was a three-sport athlete at Wisconsin Lutheran High School where he and the Vikings reached the WIAA State Baseball Tournament in 1996 and 1997. Today, he and his wife, Becca, live in Milwaukee with their three children, Casey, Cody, and Lucy. Becca, a 2001 graduate of WLC, was a member of the Warriors women's basketball team that made their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000.
